6 Steps to Setting and Achieving Your Goals
Written by Erin E. on May 10th 2022
Goal setting is an important part of every business. You can want everything in the world but unless you’re creating a step-by-step plan to achieve those goals, they’ll most likely remain unfulfilled. Think of it like trying to hit a target blindfolded: you might get lucky, but most of your time will be wasted and you won’t end up with the score you want.

There are 6 simple steps you can take to start establishing and achieving your goals today. Let’s take a closer look.

1. Evaluate what you want to accomplish. Think as big or as little as you want! There are no limits when it comes to goal setting, but sometimes it can be easier to start with the big picture: consider why you became a real estate agent in the first place and go from there.

2. Think about WHY those goals are important to you. You’ve got to dive deeper in order to find your true motivation. Is it financial freedom, workplace independence, or family based? The more you know why you care about this goal, the easier it will be to achieve.

3. Think about WHAT you’re going to do to achieve those goals. Action steps are VITAL! Everybody can talk a big talk, your job is to figure out what small actions you can take on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to start reaching toward your goals.

4. Think about WHEN you’re going to start implementing those action steps. Consider the entire timeline: is this a 5 year goal or a 6 month goal? Once you know how far to plan out, you’ll be able to create a schedule that includes those daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly steps.

5. Create a strong visual representation of what it feels like to achieve your goals. Picture yourself at the finish line! What does your life look like, how do you and your family or partner feel about what you’ve accomplished? The more you can hold onto that image, the more motivated you’ll be to get there.

6. Create milestones and celebrate. Celebration is important but only in moderation. You don’t want to get ahead of yourself and start popping champagne before you’ve taken your first step! Milestones will help you keep track of your progress and allow you to choose specific moments to kick back and acknowledge how far you’ve come.

These steps are applicable to many different aspects of your life and business! They could relate to your body and physical health, personal relationships, business or career, spirituality or societal contributions, finances, new skills, or anything else you desire in your life.
